It’s time to enjoy Kettering’s annual events

Few cities can boast the caliber of treasured community traditions that we embrace here in Kettering, Ohio. As the days cool off and students head back to school, we come together as a community for some of our favorite annual events.

First up is Art on the Commons, one of the Dayton area’s most popular fine arts festivals celebratin­g its 30th year at Kettering’s Lincoln Park Civic Commons on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Art on the Commons is hosted by Kettering’s Rosewood Arts Centre and features fine arts and crafts by more than 90 talented artists from throughout the United States.

One of the most spirited annual Kettering events will take place on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. at Roush Stadium/Foreman Field when the Fairmont Firebirds host the Alter Knights in the first game of their football season. The stadium is sure to be full of cheering fans supporting Kettering’s two outstandin­g high schools and this year the game will be broadcast live on ABC 22/Fox 45.

Start your Labor Day weekend with “The Taste” on Thursday, Aug. 30 from 6-9 p.m. at Lincoln Park Civic Commons. Hosted by the Kettering-Moraine-Oakwood Chamber of Commerce, “The Taste” celebrates its 32nd Anniversar­y in 2018. Enjoy live entertainm­ent and samples of delicious menu items from dozens of the area’s best restaurant­s, all for one ticket price. For more informatio­n please visit www.fraze.com/the-taste.

There’s no shortage of ways to celebrate Labor Day weekend in Kettering. Take in the last days of summer fun at our Adventure Reef Water Park. Try your hand at games of chance or savor a famous chicken dinner at AlterFest. Line up for the Kettering Holiday at Home parade and spend time playing family games, shopping unique vendors and enjoying delicious food at the Holiday at Home Festival.

And of course there are still plenty of opportunit­ies to enjoy Summer’s Best Music Under the Stars at our own Fraze Pavilion. Join us for signature festivals like BaconFest and GospelFest.
