Dragons set military-appreciation night
On Aug. 18, the Dayton Dragons will host Hometown Heroes night, with activities that honor and celebrate our local military members.
The activity-packed night includes pre-game activities, in-game activities and more.
All Dragons players and coaches will wear special stars & stripes jerseys. A jersey auction will begin after the game, with proceeds benefiting the First Sergeant’s Council.
Children of military families will take the field with the Dragons players in a special version of the Kroger Baseball Buddies.
The National Anthem and God Bless America will be performed by the United States Air Force Band of Flight. Colors will be presented by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Pre-game activities will also include sky-divers and a dove release.
In-game activities will include an Air Force Swearing-In ceremony on the field; recognition of Airmen of the Year; a special Hometown Heroes video; a presentation by the Northmont NJROTC Rifle Team; and performances by the Mini-Dugout Dancers.
A post-game fireworks show will begin approximately 10 minutes after the final pitch of the game.
Several special areas will be set up on the plaza including a booth for the American Red Cross, a military Humvee, an Air Force Recruiting Office Raptor Vehicle, an Aeromedical display, information on the Air Force Marathon, and thank you cards for deployed military personnel.
