2 sought in shooting of Food Mart worker

-

Police are looking for two male suspects in the robbery and shooting at the Everyday Food Mart on Friday night that sent one of two store employees to Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton Police Lt. Matt Beavers said.

The clerk who was shot and another employee were in the market, at 1035 Linden Ave., when two males came in sometime after 10:30 p.m. and appeared to demand money, Beavers said. A struggle ensued and a clerk was shot.

Investigators are working to determine whether the victim is the store owner. He was alert and talking when taken to the hospital, Beavers said. His condition was not known.

Beavers said both suspects are believed to be about 5-foot-9 and between 165 and 220 pounds, wearing denim jeans and each had something white — either a cloth or a mask — covering at least part of his face.

They ran south through an alley off Lorain Avenue, Beavers said.

A state patrol helicopter and a K-9 unit were deployed. Residents living near the market were told to shelter in place while the search was being conducted.
