Purina sets up distribution at NorthPoint

Purina Feed, a unit of Land O’Lakes Inc., is in the early stages of anchoring a distribution operation near Dayton International Airport, occupying the second building built off Concorde Drive by NorthPoint Development.

“We are a distribution center,” Teresa Devall, a warehouse manager for Land O’Lakes’ Purina Feed, said Monday. “We have 28 employees.”

The operation today working at 2700 Concorde Drive was recently based in Richmond, Ind., and has moved to Dayton, Devall said. She said the operation’s corporate parent may have an announcement on the move later.

Erik Collins, Montgomery County development director, also confirmed the company’s presence in the building, but he said the county did not bring Purina to Dayton.

“It really was market-driven,” Collins said.

The Dayton Daily News was the first to identity Purina as the building’s occupant. A real estate report in July reported that a consumer products company had finalized a lease at 2700 Concorde, but at the time, the company was unnamed.

The company signed a lease for more than 348,000 square feet of bulk warehouse space at that address in the second quarter of the year, near the established Spectrum Brands distribution center at 2800 Concorde, just north of U.S. 40 and west of the airport, according to a quarterly real estate report from Colliers International released in July.

A message seeking additional comment was sent to a representative of Arden Hills, Minn.-based Land O’Lakes.
