- STAFF REPORT

Two different holiday activities will be held in West Carrollton on back to back days - Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

The Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, in the community room of the Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave. The event is free, but registration is required and limited to the first 15 families. Sign up online at: www.westcarrollton.org/gingerbread-house-event-registration/. Each group must bring their own decorations, but will be provided with one house per group. The houses will be judged and displayed at the city’s annual Holiday Festival, sponsored by the City Beautiful Commission, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Civic Center.

The Holiday Festival features free ‘take your own’ photos with Santa Claus, horse-drawn wagon rides, a 5:30 p.m. flashlight candy cane hunt, and musical performances by local high school choir and orchestra groups. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be provided, as well as arts and craft activities hosted by the local branch of the Dayton Metro Library. There will also be a ‘most-festive’ holiday sweater and hat contest. The event concludes with the annual tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m.

During the Holiday Festival and continuing through Dec. 14, the West Carrollton Civic Center lobby will also house Santa’s mailbox. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope in order to receive a response from Santa.
