Heritage council grants
Five area historical societies and museums have been awarded cash grants from the Heritage Advisory Council of Warren County.
Loveland Museum Center has been awarded $250 towards a $2,000 restoration of Loveland’s 1944 World War II monument.
Harveysburg Community Historical Society has received $200 towards the cost installing hand rails at the entrance to the historic Free Black School, a National Register of Historic Places site.
Franklin Area Historical Society has been awarded $130 towards the purchase of video equipment.
The equipment will be used to present video of exhibit rooms on the second floor of the Harding Museum to guests who cannot climb stairs to the second floor.
The Carlisle Area Historical Society will receive $250 toward the purchase of mannequins to display their Carlisle’s collection of military uniforms.
Mason Historical Society was awarded $200 for display units that will be used to exhibit historical timelines with maps, photographs and artifacts providing visitors with explanations of how our past promotes our lives today.
The Heritage Advisory Council was founded in 2004 as a support organization for the many historical societies and museums in Warren County.
The Council members are representatives from 14 different museums, historical societies, libraries and genealogy organizations in Warren County. For more information, call 513-472-0117. Warren County Community Services (WCCS) Weatherization assists income eligible Warren County residents reduce energy costs by improving the energy efficiency of their homes thus creating more affordable housing for those most in need. Income qualified homeowners and renters may receive this service if they meet the guidelines. WCCS has been serving the weatherization needs of Warren County since 1975.
Weatherization provides energy saving measures such as:
■ Insulating attics, walls and basements
■ Cleaning or repairing heating systems
■ Performing safety testing and inspections
■ Educating clients ■ Sealing major air leaks around doors and windows
■ Replacing broken window panes
■ Wrapping hot water heaters, pipes etc.
■ Making minor door repairs. ■ Filling holes around plumbing with foam.
■ Sealing return air/supply ducts coming into the home, if accessible. Call for more information:
