Unfair tax for women?
Ohio lawmakers have taken a step to address something that many women have claimed discriminates against them.
Our politics editor, Anthony Shoemaker, reports: “The Ohio House voted (last week) to repeal sales taxes on feminine hygiene products. The bill passed 84-1 and now heads to the Ohio Senate. Products such as tampons and sanitary napkins will be exempt from sales tax which supporters say is an unfair tax on women.”
One of the bill’s co-sponsors is state Rep. Niraj Antani, R-Miamisburg, who told Shoemaker: “This is a common sense tax cut that should have been enacted long ago. It will help the women of Ohio keep more of their hard earned money. The law as it currently stands discriminated against women, and I am proud to have voted for this bill that repeals this discrimination.”
