75-year-old woman robbed in church lot

A 75-year-old woman was robbed of her purse in the parking lot of a church where she works, police said.

The robbery happened about 7:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Church in the city’s Collinwood neighborhood.

The woman told police she arrived at work at the church and saw a man cutting through the lot, police reports say.

She got out of her car and was near the church’s entrance when the man ran up to her, grabbed her purse and ran off, police reports say.

Cleveland police obtained security footage from the robbery and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man.

It’s the same church parking lot where St. Mary’s Pastor Fr. John Kumse was shot at Dec. 11, 2017.
