Time to give thanks for benefits in Kettering

- Don Patterson is mayor of Kettering.

This is the season to celebrate and give thanks for our

many rich blessings here in Kettering. We are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful parks, excellent schools, successful businesses, vibrant arts and culture and welcoming neighborhoods.

Kettering is home to a thriving business community. I’d

like to thank our business leaders and all who are employed by companies in the city. We are proud you call Kettering home. Our skilled workforce, excellent location, prime commercial properties, excellent city services and world-class amenities have made Kettering an ideal location for businesses to grow as evidenced by the recent announcements of growth at companies like Tenneco, Kettering Health Network, Community Tissue Ser

vices and Alternate Solutions Health Network. We truly treasure our Kettering companies, large and small. We are grateful to our business leaders for choosing to locate, grow and thrive in Kettering.

I’d like to thank our city staff for their commitment to pro

viding outstanding customer service to our Kettering residents and businesses. We are exceptionally proud that in our latest community survey, 97 percent of our residents are satisfied or very satisfied with living in Kettering. This remarkable level of satisfaction is reached because our city departments, each award-winning and known for excellence throughout the state, are made up of caring, dedicated profes

sionals who love working for our community.

Kettering is home to volunteer spirit. We could not pro

vide the level of services we do without our volunteers. Each year more than 1,100 city volunteers give of their time, talent and heart to make Kettering the best. Volunteers help provide resident services in our administrative offices, assist with family events that create memories for generations, drive senior adults to critical medical and life essen

tial appointments, and so much more. I am proud of the tradition of service in our Kettering community and I am thankful for all our volunteers.

And of course I save the best for last, my deepest and most enthusiastic thanks goes to our residents. You each made a choice to make Kettering your home. You make our neighborhoods friendly and inviting. You support our Kettering businesses and our outstanding schools. You and your families fill our Kettering Recreation Complex and our parks with laughter and activity. You support those in need. You make Kettering a community unlike any other. We are humbled by your loyalty and forever grateful for your support.
