Magnum and Higgins (Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks) are understand­ably shaken when one of her former MI6 colleagues abruptly turns up nursing a fresh gunshot wound in the new episode “Day of the Viper.” They’re even more alarmed, however, by the news he has to deliver: The assassin who killed Higgins’ true love has resurfaced on Oahu. While he and Higgins spring into action, Magnum asks Rick (Zachary Knighton) to take over a case, which unfortunat­ely soon goes sideways. Ian Pryce guest stars.

Based on novelist Justin Cronin’s bestsellin­g trilogy, this thriller series focuses on a secret medical facility where scientists are experiment­ing with a dangerous virus that could lead to the cure for all disease but also has the potential to wipe out all human life. The midseason finale promised to deliver some answers fans were jonesing for, but wound up raising plenty of new questions in the process, among them more unresolved details about Jack’s (Milo Ventimigli­a) brother, Nicky (Michael Angarano). As the series returns tonight to begin the rest of Season 3, viewers will be hoping the writers fill in a few more of those blanks, along with examining the toll Randall’s (Sterling K. Brown) new political career may take on his marriage. Mandy Moore and Chrissy Metz also star.

A young woman (Jeanine Mason, “Grey’s Anatomy”) moves back in with her father in the title town following a profession­al setback and reconnects with her high-school crush (Nathan Parsons, “The Originals”), only to discover he’s an extraterre­strial — and there are others like him — in this reboot of the 19992002 teen sci-fi drama “Roswell.”

10 PM on (SYFY) Deadly Class

Syfy gave viewers a sneak peek late last month at this new series adaptation of a hit graphic novel from Rick Remender and Wes Craig, but the show makes its official series debut tonight with the “Pilot.” Benjamin Wadsworth stars as Marcus Lopez, a streetwise youth who finds himself recruited into Kings Dominion, an exclusive private academy where the next generation of the world’s top crime families are groomed.

In the new episode “Blasts From the Past,” things get very tense indeed as the artists are forced to work together on the season’s first team challenge, which involves a figurative trip back through time: They’re tasked with creating gorgeous looks that appear thoroughly modern, yet are inspired by designs from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s. Ashley Graham is the host, while Sir John plays mentor to the contestant­s.

This hit series, which features celebritie­s going head to head in lip-syncing the song of their choice, opens Season 5 with an epic battle between the “Fab 5” members from the Emmy-winning Netflix reboot of “Queer Eye”: Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown and Jonathan Van Ness. LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen return as hosts; future guests scheduled for this season include Andy Roddick, Brooklyn Decker, Darren Criss, Big Bird and Vanessa Morgan.

Shocked to discover that Clem (Nina Dobrev) doesn’t plan to invite her father to the wedding, Rose and Walt (Sheryl Lee Ralph, Brian Stokes Mitchell) urge her to invite her dad to their home for dinner in a new episode called “Freddy Returns.” Meanwhile, Nick (Tone Bell) tries to get Clem’s sis Shannon (Odessa Adlon) to be more responsibl­e around the home and more considerat­e of others living there.

In a collaborat­ion with the celebrated Joffrey Ballet, director-choreograp­her John Neumeier stages “Orphee et Eurydice From Lyric Opera of Chicago,” Christoph Willibald Gluck’s 18th-century operatic treatment of a Greek myth. Neumeier weaves music and dance into a seamless whole as he retells the story of how Orpheus (Dmitry Korchak), an ancient Greek musician and poet, takes desperate measures after his beloved wife, Euridice (Andriana Chuchman), dies.

10 PM on (HBO) Real Time With Bill Maher

It’s only been two months or so since Bill Maher wrapped Season 16 of his politics-andcomedy chat show, but in the news cycle of President Donald Trump’s America, that’s a veritable epoch. Maher returns tonight to launch Season 17 with guests who are still TBA at this writing, but with a political landscape that in some respects is dramatical­ly different, so expect the conversati­on to be lively.

Movie: Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story

Inspired by a true story, this new TV drama stars Christina Ricci as pioneering investigat­ive reporter Nellie Bly, who feigns mental illness to be admitted as a patient at the notorious Women’s Lunatic Asylum, where she hopes to gather research for an expose on the facility. In this fictionali­zed account of actual events, Nellie’s treatment there leaves her with no recollecti­on of how she came to the asylum or, indeed, even her real identity.

9PMon (HBO) Movie: Brexit

Benedict Cumberbatc­h stars in this new docudrama, which takes viewers behind the scenes during the events leading up to the summer 2016 referendum that resulted in a decision for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union. The “Sherlock” star plays Dominic Cummings, who spearheade­d the Vote Leave establishm­ent, so successful that it sent political shockwaves around the world.

Don Cheadle Black Monday

10 PM on (HBO) Crashing

Fresh off a surprising­ly successful college comedy tour, Pete (Pete Holmes) returns to the New York club scene feeling more confident and reinvigora­ted as this quasi-autobiogra­phical sitcom returns for Season 3. While the show’s original title stands, happily its main character no longer is having to rely on the kindness of friends who let him crash on their couch. In the season premiere, “Jaboukie,” Pete’s trying to pay his newfound success forward by taking promising comic Jaboukie Young-White under his wing.

10 PM on (SHOW) Black Monday

This scathing new comedy series wrings laughter out of bleak events as it revisits Oct. 19, 1987, when Wall Street suffered the worst stock market crash in its history. At its core, the show is a chronicle of how a brash group of outsiders wound up tanking the world’s largest financial system after taking on the blue-blood members of this old-boys club. Don Cheadle, Andrew Rannells and Regina Hall head the solid ensemble.
