ALDI, a leader in the grocery industry, opened its first store in Fairfield (5065 Pleasant Ave.) as part of a $3.4 billion investment to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022.

“Everyone deserves great food at affordable prices. This is our mantra at ALDI, and we’re excited to introduce it to customers in Fair fifield with our brand new store,” said Sarah Brown, Springfiel­d division vice president for ALDI. “ALDI stores are designed with shoppers’ time and money in mind, and we’re proud to bring the community a better grocery shopping option.”

The Fair fifield ALDI store layout provides an excellent i n - s tore experienc e , featuring refrigerat­ion space to accommodat­e an expanded selection of fresh, healthy and convenient products. Compared to last year, 20 percent of the ALDI product selection is new. The ALDI product expansion i s the next phase of the company’s aggressive, national growth and remodel plan. As part of the product expansion, ALDI i s increasing its fresh food selection by 40 percent with many organic, convenient and easy- toprepare options. ALDI stores also feature open ceilings, natural lighting and environmen­tally-friendly buildingma­terials. The store will be open from 9 a. m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Cedar Care Village Pharmacy , the new teaching pharmacy for the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy, will host three open houses in January for the new pharmacy.

The first open house took place on Jan. 15; the next two open houses will be held on Monday, Jan. 21, from 10 a. m. to noon and Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon. The new pharmacy is set to offifficia­lly open its doors for business in early February.

During the open houses, the community can tour the pharmacy and meet the director of pharmacy services, Dr. Jeb Ballentine., also an adjunct professor of pharmacy practice at Cedarville University. Customer scan also register their name, contact informatio­n and insurance provider in order to speed up the process of filling their fifirst prescripti­ons in February.

Constructi­on and renovation of the former Cedarville Hardware store began in June 2018 and is nearing completion. Shelving and counters are currently being installed and exterior signs are being mounted.

Cedar Car e Vil l a ge Pharmac y passed the Ohio Board of Pharmacy inspection andwas granted its license on Dec. 4, 2018.

Cedar Care will provide full prescripti­on service, inc luding refills and transfers, and patients can set up email and text message refifill reminders. Pharmacist­s will also help patients with multiple prescripti­ons develop a medication adherence and management program. Flu shots will also be available in the fall.

Premier Orthopedic Spine Center will open a new offiffice in Centervill­e.

Premier Orthopedic Spine Center specialize­s in comprehens­ive services to treat a wide array of spine conditions. The practice includes spine surgeons Max R. Berdichevs­ky, MD and Jennifer M. Smail, MD.

The new offiffice, located at 2400 Miami Valley Dr., Suite 160 in Centervill­e, is in addition to their Middletown offiffice.

Dr. Berdichevs­ky will be accepting new patients at their new Centervill­e location. Dr. Berdichevs­ky received his medical degree f rom Albe r t Eins t e in College of Medicine, and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in orthopedic surgery of the spine at Oregon Health Sciences University.

Premier Physician Network announces the opening of Premier Health Family Medicine Xenia. The practice will include Shirelle D. Applin, MD. Dr. Applin received her medical degree from University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. She attended the St. Elizabeth Family Practice Residency Program at Franciscan Medical Center.

Premier Physician Network announces the opening of Premier Health Rheumatolo­gy. The practice will include Sanford M. Wolfe, DO. Dr. Wolfe received his medical degree fromthe College of Osteopathi­c Medicine and completed a residency at both Grandview Medical Center and the United States Air Force Medical Center. He did a fellowship in rheumatolo­gy at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Services.

The new Xenia YMCA facility is officially open to the public after the facility opened on Jan. 2nd at 336 Progress Dr. The new state- of- the- art facility includes two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, a suspended walking track, a group exercise studio, a functional fifitness studio and an 8,0000 square feet fifitness center. The new Y openedin partnershi­p as the new home of the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center and an entire wing of the new facility containing classrooms for Central State University and Clark State Community College.

Alan Milkis, the Xenia Y’s Executive Director, says he is excited to bring this new facility to the community. “The new facility is a gamechange­r for Greene County. The building has been packed since we’ve opened, and the energy hasn’t slowed down at all. The community was ready for this upgrade.”

The new building is a fifirst of its kind, President & CEO Da l e Brunne r said, having partnered to construct the facilities with five other organizati­ons: Kettering Health Network, The City of Xenia, Central State University, Clark State Community College, andthe Xenia Adult and Recreation Services Center.

“Ou rold building prohibited us from being fully- integrated with the community. Now, we are able to have students drop their kids offff at childwatch while they pursue a degree. Our senior members can share lunch at the Senior Center after enjoying a game of Pickleball in our gymnasium. This has been the goal the whole time, that pragmatica­lly we are really working together to serve the community.”
