Volunteers needed

- STAFF REPORT

Are you interested in getting more involved in your community? The city has a need for volunteers on three different volunteer boards or commissions. The openings are available on the City Beautiful Commission, Personnel Appeals Board and the Planning Commission.

If interested, please download a volunteer application from www. westcarrollton.org/documents/ board-commission-application/ or obtain one at the Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The City Beautiful Commission meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. The commission plans ways to encourage the beautification of the community, and also helps to host community-wide events such as the Community Pride Day, Rake Rally and Holiday Festival. There are several openings on the commission.

The three-member Personnel Appeals Board meets only as needed to hear appeals upon request of any employee who has been suspended or removed from his/her position. Members serve three-year terms. Two new members are needed for this board.

The Planning Commission, which meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, serves as review board for new building or redevelopment plans submitted to the city. Commission members serve five-year terms. There is one opening on the Planning Commission.

For more information about any of the volunteer positions call Carie Cottongim, assistant clerk of council, at 937-847-4633.
