Yellow Springs Brewery has collaborated with the Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs to brew “Bush League Psych-Out Coffee Milk Stout” in honor of the theater’s anniversary kickoff showing of The Big Lebowski.

The beer will be served Sunday, Feb. 10, at a special “Beer + Movie” event at the Little Art, and will then be available in draft form only in the Daytonarea market starting the week of Feb. 11, a spokeswoman for the brewery said.

The movie, released in 1998, has generated a cult following, especially around the movie’s protagonist, Jeffery Lebowski, better known as “The Dude,” played memorably by Jeff Bridges. The Dude consumes White Russians, a cocktail made with vodka, coffee liqueur and cream, at various points throughout the movie.

YSB’s Bush League PsychOut Coffee Milk Stout was brewed to evoke the flavor profile of a White Russian.

Specifically, here’s how Yellow Springs Brewery described the beer in a release:

“Like the Coen Brother’s dark comedies that are tinged with a character sweetness, Bush League Psych-Out rolls a perfect strike with huge coffee, dark caramel and a nuttyroasted character that finishes dry, yet with a silky mouthfeel. The flavor is a delectable roasted coffee that comes from the addition of coffee beans roasted by Yellow Springs Brewery’s own John Hainey. The mild bitterness of the light roasted coffee is mellowed out brilliantly with the addition of lactose (milk sugar), which creates the effect of a White Russian’s subtle sweetness and creaminess.

“This succulent stout embodies the essence of slackers, rugs, sweaters, bowling, eccentric friends and exotic drinks, and is a beautiful product of a collaborative process between Yellow Springs Brewery and The Little Art Theatre who eagerly participated every step of the way in this zesty enterprise!”

Yellow Springs Brewery opened in April 2013 at 305 N. Walnut St. in Yellow Springs. It has excelled in the regional retail market with its canned core-product beers and bottled special releases. Since opening, the brewery has added 1,600 square feet and new production equipment to its brewhouse and tasting room and has purchased the former Village Lanes bowling alley in Yellow Springs for use as a distribution center.
