Free RTA ride
The Greater Dayton RTA will join dozens of public transit agencies across the state to celebrate Ohio Loves Transit week from Feb. 11-15, culminating with a free ride day Feb. 14 for all fixed-route buses for RTA riders who use the RideTime texting feature.
As part of the Ohio Public Transit Association’s Ohio Loves Transit week, Dayton and partner transit agency members will form a statewide initiative to celebrate transit by highlighting the way it moves communities forward and to promote the need of funding and support for transit in their communities. In Dayton, this will include special giveaways at its transit centers, collecting rider stories to send to state officials and a ride-along day with key community partners Feb. 14. The ride-along will meet at 10 a.m. at The Flyer southbound stop at Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton.
For RTA riders to participate in the free ride day Feb. 14, they need to simply flash their text message that shows their bus arrival time to their driver and they will receive a free ride. The RideTime text feature allows RTA riders to text their stop number to 41411 for a quick answer on when the next bus is to arrive at their stop.
For riders who use monthly passes, from now until Feb. 15, if those riders flash their text feature to an employee at an RTA transit center sales outlet (Wright Stop Plaza and the Northwest Transit Center), they will get a free Day Pass when they buy a 31-Day Pass.
Ohio Loves Transit week aims to highlight the growing need for support of public transportation across all Ohio communities.
