Man accused of killing adult son to face murder charges Car with puppy inside stolen from gas station

A Dayton man accused of shooting and killing his son will face murder charges, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Earl Shingleton, 57, was indicted by a Montgomery County Grand Jury Thursday on two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault, according to court records.

Shingleton is accused of shooting his son, Kevin Johnson, 29, after a verbal argument at their Wyoming Street home Feb. 5.

Johnson was transporte­d to Miami Valley Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Shingleton remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail. He will be arraigned on the charges Feb. 19.

A vehicle was stolen from a Centervill­e gas station with a puppy inside and now Centervill­e police are looking for the two women believed to be involved, police said.

Officers responded to the BP station at the corner of Wilmington Pike and Clyo Road around 2 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call that a Toyota Corolla was stolen with the animal inside, Centervill­e Police said.

Investigat­ors found the stolen car around 5 a.m. on Thomas Payne Parkway with flat tires and the dog barking outside the car, officers said.

The dog was safe and has since been reunited with its owner.

Police are working to gather surveillan­ce footage of the car theft.
