A Beavercreek woman whose car was hit by a falling tree Feb. 6 near Cincinnati died Friday. Ellen Marie Grieshop was 52.

Grieshop had been in a coma and on life support and was being cared for at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center after first responders used the “jaws of life” to extract her from her car.

“She fought to the very end, but the injuries were just too much to overcome,” her husband John was quoted on a gofundme.com web page, adding that his wife died at 12:40 p.m. Friday. “I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and support ... I could feel you all supporting me.”

According to the page and media reports, the couple has two children. The post said arrangement details would be made later.

Grieshop was on her way to a work appointment in Cincinnati at about 11:30 a.m. Feb. 6 when the accident happened, according to reports. She was driving on Galbraith Road in Springfield Twp. near Cincinnati, a crash report showed.

The report said after the tree hit the car, Grieshop’s vehicle went off the road, up an embankment and struck another tree before overturning, trapping her inside.

The online posting said first responders were there within three minutes due to witnesses calling 911.

The gofundme.com page author wrote that money was necessary for mounting current and future costs.

“There has been an outpouring of support for this kind-hearted and wonderful lady and her beautiful family,” the post said. “The thoughts, prayers and visits have been so much appreciated by the family and extended family and friends.

“John has mentioned so many times how much he can feel the support of his friends and family and that is carrying him through the darkest hours.”
