Are we souring on Amazon?

Remember all the hullabaloo about where Amazon would locate its second headquarters? Well, never mind.

Or at least, never mind about the location the company announced in Queens, N.Y. Turns out that the idea to build a giant campus that would bring several thousand jobs didn’t sound to some folks in the area like such a great idea. A coalition of local politicians, union leaders and neighborhood groups turned Amazon’s smile upside down enough that on Wednesday, the company said it was pulling out.

Among the objections was the $3 billion inducement package the city and state offered. And it’s worth noting that Northern Virginia, site of the second of the two announced HQ’s, remains happy Amazon is coming.
