A project to resurface Wolf Creek Street in Brookville at a cost of almost $131,000 will start after the Ohio Department of Transportation picks a contractor’s bid.

City council approved the final agreement for this project at a meeting this month. The cost will be a 70/30 percent split between ODOT and the city.

The Federal Highway Funds grant will cover $83,643. The local match is $47,338. The total cost is $130,981.

ODOT manages the project. They will open bids March 21 and choose the contractor by April 1, according to Public Information Officer Mandi Dillon.

The project will happen this year once a contractor is hired and weather permits. It is slated to take two to three weeks.

City officials praised the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission for help.

“The city is very appreciative of the support and assistance we have received from the MVRPC Board, MVRPC staff, and ODOT,” City Manager Gary Burkholder said. “This project is a good example of how we can leverage local dollars to complete a much-needed resurfacing project.”

The estimated resurfacing will be about 0.5 miles on Wolf Creek Street from the intersection at Westbrook Road to the city corporation line, which is close to the city’s wastewater treatment plant.

This project is part of the Surface Transportation Program through the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission. Dillon said this is a common program that cities use to resurface roads through ODOT, but cities must apply and be awarded federal funding.
