A man and his young son who survived a double-fatal crash earlier this month in Greene County remain as patients in hospitals.

Adam C. Bishop, 30, of Lebanon, is listed in fair condition at Kettering Medical Center. His 6-year-old son, Aidan, was on a ventilator at a local hospital as of last week, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

On Feb. 3, Sugarcreek Twp. emergency crews and the state patrol responded to the single-vehicle crash on Wilmington-Dayton Road. Two people were killed in the crash — 23-year-old Menley C. Downs of Waynesville and Bishop’s 5-year-old daughter, Roselynn.

Bishop was driving northbound in a black 2007 Toyota Corolla when the vehicle veered off the left side of the road and struck a stone culvert in a ditch, according to the patrol’s report.

The vehicle was traveling at an estimated speed of 55 mph, which is the speed limit for that section of roadway, according to the patrol’s report.

The patrol report listed marijuana and other drugs as possible factors in the crash.

Results from toxicology tests are still pending, according to Lt. Matt Schmenk, commander of the patrol’s Xenia post. Bishop’s phone is also being looked at to determine a possible cause of the crash, Schmenk said.

The findings from the investigation thus far have been delivered to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

According to the patrol’s investigation, the two children were buckled in as backseat passengers but neither was secured properly in a child seat.

The highway patrol is investigating a second double-fatal crash that happened Monday night in Clinton County.

The fiery crash took the lives of a child and her mother on Ohio 134 near Wilmington.

Wendy Brewer, 20, of Wilmington, and 14-monthold Ariala Brewer were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the patrol.

Two others were transported to local hospitals.

The mother and child were passengers in a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 16-year-old male from Martinsville who has not been identified. The teen was driving southbound when he attempted to pass a Dodge Caravan, according to the patrol. The Cavalier rearended the van, driven by 63-year-old Daniel Mayo. The Cavalier then went leftof-center and struck a northbound Buick Century. The Cavalier caught fire after being struck by a second car that was traveling north, according to the patrol.

The teen driver was transported by CareFlight medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. His condition has not been released. The driver of the Buick was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the patrol.
