Dayton Public Schools will host a town hall meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Thurgood Marshall STEM High School, 4447 Hoover Ave.

Dayton Public Schools invites all parents and community members to participat­e in a discussion about what parents want from the district. Board of Education Vice President Jocelyn Spencer Rhynard will lead the discussion. this evening in the CJ auditorium at 505 S. Ludlow St., Dayton. The two concert bands plus the New Horizons Rising Stars beginning band will perform. Music education students from UD also will participat­e as conductors and performers. Thus, the musicians’ ages will range from teens to the 90’s. Guests are invited to a small reception in the CJ cafeteria after the concert.

In addition, the UD New Horizons Music Program will present a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at St. Christophe­r Church, 435 E. National Road, Vandalia. The concert will feature the program’s concert, jazz and beginning bands. Guests are invited to a small reception in the church lobby after the concert.

The UD New Horizons Music Program provides music education, instructio­n and performanc­e opportunit­ies to adults in the greater Dayton area.

The Health Ministries Program of Premier Health, along with support from the Dayton Police Department, Miami Valley Crime Prevention Associatio­n, Ohio Crime Prevention Associatio­n, and United Against Violence, present “House of Worship and Community Safety in Today’s Environmen­t” from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday at Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr.

It is important for faith communitie­s, other community groups and individual­s to partner with first responders to develop and improve awareness in order to act to prevent crime and address emergency situations. This program will discuss these issues and the resources available to assist those in the community as applied within their setting.

This workshop is designed for faith community nurses, health ministers, clergy and staff and any others with an interest in public safety as it relates to communitie­s of faith.

This course provides 3.3 contact hours.
