A free informatio­n seminar for parents of teenage children who have developmen­tal disabiliti­es will be held on March 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The seminar is titled, “School to Adult Life Transition,” (or SALT), and the topic is “Understand­ing the Fundamenta­ls of Guardiansh­ip and the Alternativ­es.” The presenter will be Laura Drake, Attorney at Law, and she will discuss what families should know regarding legal informatio­n involving people with disabiliti­es.

The seminar will address; ■ Developing a better understand­ing of the laws and new standards

■ The rights of people with disabiliti­es

■ Limited Guardiansh­ip, Power of Attorney, Supported Decision Making, and how the process works

Family members of people with disabiliti­es, agency personnel and educators are welcome to attend and participat­e. Parents are encourage to bring their children ages 14 and older to participat­e in a Student/Young Adult session while parents attend the presentati­on. In the Student/ Young Adult session, students will explore safety and things they need to know to stay safe.

The SALT seminar will be held at the Warren County Board of Developmen­tal Disabiliti­es’ Warren C. Young Center, 801 Drake Road.
