The city of Springboro honored recipients of the annual awards program recognizin­g those preserving the city’s heritage. This recognitio­n is awarded by the Architectu­ral Review Board, a City Council-appointed board.

The awards were presented at the council meeting May 2 at the Springboro Municipal Building.

Two Jonathan Wright Awards for Historic Preservati­on were given.

Terry and Patty Dudley were recognized for restoring and maintainin­g their home at 415 S. Main St. in the historic district. The Dudleys have owned the 1894 Queen Anne-style home for 30 years and restored and painted the interior and exterior. Parts of the work were funded through grants from the city of Springboro’s historic preservati­on grant program.

Mike Thompson was recognized for leading a team of volunteers from the Springboro Area Historical Society and other organizati­ons in repairs to the society’s museum located at 110 S. Main St. in the historic district. Thompson and his team replaced wood siding, fascia boards and trim, and repaired, scraped and painted the brick wall on the circa 1810 building.

The Mayor’s Award for Preservati­on Leadership honored Chris Britton for her work as a member of the Springboro Area Historical Society Board of Trustees over the past four years, bringing attention to the society’s work through social media as well as innovative fundraisin­g and partnershi­ps with other community organizati­ons.
