RiverScape offers lunchtime escape with food trucks, music
Last week one of my favorite lunch-time options opened for business.
RiverScape MetroPark hosts an event called Music@Lunch from now until the end of September. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. most weekdays, grab lunch from a rotating selection of daily food trucks or at the RiverScape Cafe and enjoy live acoustic music.
Featured food trucks over the next five months include Chanhl’s Catering Company, Haolepino Hawaiian-Filipino Island Cuisine, Drunken Waffle, El Meson, Nacho Pig, EAT and DFish DChicken.
The RiverScape Summer Music Series concerts have also started. They are free for all ages and held under the RiverScape Pavilion. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, including craft beer and fare from local food trucks. Starting Memorial Day weekend, bikes and bike accessories can be rented at RiverScape Rentals, open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day. The RiverScape Cafe serves simple fare — cold or grilled wraps for $4. The veggie made with red pepper hummus, spinach, onions, tomatoes, black olives and feta cheese on jalapeño cheese wrap or the turkey made with gouda cheese, spinach, tomatoes,onions and pickle on a jalapeno cheese wrap. Hot dogs ($3) can be upgraded with cheese and chili for $1. It’s simple food with no flash — mozzarella sticks ($4), nachos with cheese and chili ($4), pretzel with cheese ($2.50) — but it’s the setting with the beautiful plantings and the river that makes the food so satisfying.
