About that front plate on your car

- Ron Rollins Community Impact Editor

We got quite a bit of email about Ohio getting rid of front license plates.

From Rick Reed: “One day in 10 minutes driving around the Dayton Mall area, I counted 30 cars without front plates. Obviously police don’t enforce the current law. My guess is, they use the missing plate as an excuse for stopping a vehicle when they suspect something else.”

And from Roland Anderson: “The one reason they should be eliminated that I haven’t seen reported is when new autos are delivered to rental car companies in this state, we drill holes in the front bumpers to screw on the license plates. When these cars are moved to states without front plates, the holes in the bumpers decrease the value of the autos. I asked a Centerville officer how many tickets he has issued to people without a front plate and he said he had more important activities to police than that.”
