TROY MAIN STREET HOSTS ART WALKING TOURS

-

Troy Main Street, with support from Premier Health/ Upper Valley Medical Center, will be hosting Art Walking tours this summer as part of Troy Main Street’s Sculptures on the Square.

From June 14 through September 13, downtown Troy, Ohio, will be show casing over 20 life-size sculptures by internationally renowned artist Seward Johnson. Among the Seward Johnson exhibit, one sculpture, created by regional artist Shannon Timura, will also be on display.

To enhance the exhibit, local art educators are offering “Walk and Talk” tours once a month throughout the exhibition period. These tours will offer behind the scenes details of the sculptures in addition to information pertaining to both the artists and their artwork.

“We are very excited to have some of our local arts educators be willing to guide these tours,” said Nicole Loy, Executive Director of Troy Main Street. “With so many unique and intriguing stories about each piece, the tours are sure to delight.”

In addition to the sculptures, sixteen downtown businesses are teaming up with an equal number of artists to showcase 2Dwork inside local shops. Paintings, photography, and more will be showcased in storefronts and walls, allowing guests the opportunity to view and buy art as they explore the downtown. The “Walk and Talk” tour guides will point out the participating businesses and artists during the tours.

The “Walk and Talk” tours will take place at 11 a.m. on June 22, July 20, and August 17. Tours will begin at the Troy Main Street booth at the Farmers Market on S. Cherry St. in downtown Troy.
