BOONSHOFT MUSEUM PRESENTS APOLLO REDUX: AN EXHIBIT CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE
LUNAR LANDING: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, 2600 Deweese Pkwy., Dayton. Exhibit shares the story of the unsung men and women of NASA Mission Control who created the magic that resulted in the historic achievement that stunned the world 50 years ago. The informative presentation revisits the past to reveal the science of the Apollo-era in which men and women worked night and day to make the dream of space exploration a reality.

IN THE COMPANY OF FRIENDS: THE KETTERING AND PATTERSON LEGACY: Noon to 5 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park, N., Dayton. Exhibition explores the contributions of Kettering and Patterson through the lens of the Chinese scholar collector, presenting a variety of artworks that may have been part of a scholar’s life and raising the broader question of just what it means to collect.
MONET AND IMPRESSIONISM: Noon to 5 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park, N., Dayton. Spotlight on Impressionism in France and Claude Monet’s remarkable influence on art. Features 13 paintings with the focal point of the exhibition being Monet’s spectacular painting Waterloo Bridge (Effect de soleil), 1903. Additional loaned works also on display.
THE MOON MUSEUM: Noon to 5 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park, N., Dayton. The DAI will recognize the 50th anniversary of the Apollo II Moon Landing by showing a strange and intriguing story of the Moon Museum. Featuring designs by six artists who include Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg and Robert Rauschenberg, the Moon Museum is a tiny wager made in a small edition, one of which is believed to have traveled to the moon on Apollo 12 Mission, where it remains. Also includes works of art related to the moon and the Apollo missions.
