UD and Carroll grad gets promotion at Grammy Museum

-

A University of Dayton and Carroll High School graduate has an expanded role at one of the most prestigious entertainment institutions in the world.

Michael Sticka’s love of the arts and dedication to community — two significant attributes instilled in him while growing up in Xenia and memorably co-founding Zoot Theatre Company — are serving him well in his newly expanded role as president of the Recording Academy’s Grammy Museum.

Sticka, who first joined the organization in 2014 and formerly held the position of executive director at the museum, will continue to lead the museum’s growth and strategy. He will also “oversee all aspects of Museum operations, including curatorial, development, marketing, grants and awards, public and education programs, and more,” a statement said. His contract will extend through 2022. p.m. The evening begins with a pre-show cocktail hour in the Great Hall from 6:30 – 8 p.m., followed by a Rubi Girls performance in the Mimi and Stuart Rose Auditorium at 8 p.m. Proceeds from the ticket and bar sales at the event will go to the DAI to help support the museum’s centennial celebrations.

“The Rubi Girls have been longtime supporters of the DAI, putting on benefit performances at the museum in 2013 and 2015,” Michael Roediger, Director and CEO of the Dayton Art Institute, said in a news release. “This year they are putting on a special Centennial Benefit for the DAI, in celebration of our 100th anniversary. This event is one of the DAI’s ‘100 Happenings for 100 Years,’ and a great way to come out and support the DAI and The Rubi Girls.”

Past performances at the DAI have sold out, and advance ticket purchase is recommended. General Admission tickets are $50; a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $100 and include reserved seating and two drink tickets. For more information and to purchase tickets online, go to www.daytonartinstitute.org/ rubigirls. Tickets may also be purchased by calling 937-2234ART (4278) or in person at the museum’s Guest Services Desk during regular hours.

An after-party will be hosted at Mudlick Taphouse from 10:30 p.m. – midnight. A percentage of the after-party sales at Mudlick Taphouse will go back to the museum, and throughout the weekend, Mudlick Taphouse will be accepting donations on behalf of the museum.
