THE MOON MUSEUM: Noon to 5 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park, N., Dayton. The DAI will recognize the 50th anniversary of the Apollo II Moon Landing by showing a strange and intriguing story of the Moon Museum. Featuring designs by six artists who include Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg and Robert Rauschenberg, the Moon Museum is a tiny wager made in a small edition, one of which is believed to have traveled to the moon on Apollo 12 Mission, where it remains. Also includes works of art related to the moon and the Apollo missions.
HISTORIC AFRICAN AMERICAN CHURCHES OF SOUTHWEST OHIO: 2 p.m. at Dayton Metro Library, 2nd Floor Art Gallery, 215 E. 3rd St., Dayton. The African American Visual Artists Guild’s Exposition Through Art - Historic African American Churches of Southwest Ohio art exhibit runs through Sept. 6. Opening reception 2 to 4 p.m. today. Regular viewing hours are Sun. 1 to 5 p.m.; Mon., Tues., Thurs. 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Wed., Fri., Sat. 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The 26 churches honored in the exhibit were chosen for their 75-plus years in existence ministering to their congregations, serving the communities in which they reside and being civil rights advocates in their cities. AAVAG member artists and invited artists, creating in a wide variety of medium, contributed their creative talents to celebrate the accomplishments and longevity of these churches.

PATRICIA HIGH, THOUGHTS AND DREAMS: 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today through Friday at Yellow Springs Senior Center, Fireplace Room Art Gallery, 227 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs. Exhibit runs through Aug. 30. High is a painter, who works in oil, acrylic and watercolor. Her paintings are abstract, non-objective works of imagination using color and flowing form to suggest images of thoughts, memories and dreams.
