The Taste, Holiday at Home to close summer

-

As summer draws to a close, nothing represents Labor Day weekend in Kettering more than joining family and friends for some of our favorite annual events.

Start your Labor Day weekend celebration with The Taste on Thursday, August 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lincoln Park Civic Commons. This annual festival is hosted by the Kettering-Moraine-Oakwood Chamber of Commerce, and this year marks the 33rd anniversary of The Taste.

This festival is sure to offer an evening of delicious food samples from local restaurants and superior entertainment. For more information please visit www.fraze.com/the-taste.

One of our most anticipated annual traditions in Kettering is Holiday at Home. Celebrating over 50 years, this treasured community tradition is sure to hit your Labor Day weekend plans “out of the park.”

This event offers games, arts and crafts, and specialty snacks. So grab your lawn chair and line up for the Kettering Holiday at Home parade on Monday, September 2, at 9:55 a.m. The parade will go north on Far Hills Avenue (Rt. 48) starting at Stroop Road and ending just before Dorothy Lane.

As the leaves begin to fall and students head back to school, we come together as a community to celebrate the start of the football season. Come and support your favorite home team for Kettering’s own “Battle of the Backyard” when the Fairmont Firebirds host the Archbishop Alter Knights at Roush Stadium on Thursday, August 29. Kick-off will be at 7 p.m. and the stadium will be full of cheering fans supporting their favorite home team.

And of course there is plenty of time to enjoy Summer’s Best Music Under the Stars at our own Fraze Pavilion. Join us for the last days of summer fun at our signature festivals like BaconFest and GospelFest. Visit www. fraze.com to learn more information.

Community traditions are one of the many reasons our residents are proud to call Kettering home. I look forward to seeing you at these great events!
