New voting system

The Miami County Board of Elections will host several public demonstrations of the county’s new paper ballot voting system beginning Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Miami County Fairgrounds.

The demonstration will be located under the fair grandstand. This is during the county fair so fair admission will be required.

Other demonstrations are planned as follows:

■ Monday, Aug. 19, 3-6:30 p.m., Troy-Miami County Public Library

■ Aug. 21, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Piqua Public Library

■ Sept. 9, 1-4 p.m., Tipp City Public Library

The demonstrations will include a look at the equipment and the opportunity to fill out a sample ballot and get hands on experience with the new voting equipment.

The elections office said additional demonstrations will be scheduled and announced. Visitors attending registrations can also register to vote, sign up to become a precinct election official or fill out an application to vote by mail in the Nov. 5 election.
