Prayer rally

- STAFF REPORT

To bring hope to Montgomery County and to uplift students as they enter into the new school year, an Englewood resident is hosting the First Annual Back to School Prayer Rally, which will be held Sunday, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Dayton Courthouse Square, 23 N. Main St.

The rally will be held to render prayer for the 16 school districts within Montgomery County for a peaceful and safe 2019-2020 school year. Several pastors from various churches within Montgomery County will lead in prayer during this event, which will include pastors and representatives from Apex Community Church, Kettering; Exodus Ministries, Englewood; St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Dayton; Redemption Christian Tabernacle, Vandalia; and other ministries. The 16 school districts have been equally divided into four quadrants and each pastor has been designated a specific quadrant to pray over. There will be a song by a student and a youth theatrical presentation by Vessels of Honour Outreach Dance Ministry.

Event host and coordinator, Keisha Mitchell, stated, “In the days we are living in now, our students need more than just backpacks and school supplies for school. They need to be covered in prayer. With the most recent tragic event in our city, I felt compelled to bring our spiritual leaders from across the county together to unify in prayer for our students, teachers, staff and school districts.” Mitchell said during the Rally, the entire Miami Valley will be uplifted in prayer also.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Keisha Mitchell, 937-751-9075.
