Trotwood’s Family Reunion Weekend takes place this weekend with family-oriented activities and food available for attendees.

Friday events start at 8:30 p.m. with food trucks and live music at the Trotwood Community and Cultural Arts Center on Lake Center Drive.

Fireworks will be displayed at 10 p.m. The fireworks were rescheduled from the Fourth of July because city officials said they were too close to the Memorial Day tornadoes.

Saturday begins with a parade at 10 a.m. with staging at The Foodtown Shopping Center on Main Street. The parade travels west on Main Street to Broadway Boulevard and south on Broadway Boulevard to Madison Park.

The parade features Trotwood Mayor Mary McDonald as grand marshal as well as fire and rescue vehicles, police cruisers, public works vehicles and equipment, local celebrities, elected officials, decorated vehicles, bicycles, classic cars and music.

After the parade, organizers have planned the 9th Annual Trotwood-Wolfcreek Smoke, Sizzle and Sounds BBQ Contest from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with cash prizes for chicken and pork ribs.

The barbecue contest takes place at Madison Park. The winners receive prizes of $175 to $500.

The day-long event includes live music, vendors, food trucks and inflatables.

Sunday brings an interfaith music event from 3-5 p.m., wrapping up the weekend with community churches participating in the music event.
