RTA Safety Day

The RTA, along with community partners, invites everyone to learn about ways to keep themselves safe during the fourth annual “Safety Day at the RTA” on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the concourse of Wright Stop Plaza, 4 S. Main St. Personal safety training and demonstrat­ions will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is free and open to the public.

Safety is one of the RTA’s Core Values, and a top priority. The RTA has invited community partners to inform the public on valuable safety tips including: medical emergency warning signs, scooter and bicyclist safety, fire prevention, infant mortality prevention, and opioid addiction treatment and services in the area. In addition, the RTA Safety team will talk about the agency’s push to prevent riders and other pedestrian­s from improperly crossing the street in front of a bus.

During the fair, participan­ts can also attend a free, interactiv­e personal safety class presented by the Dayton Police Department at the following times:

■ 10 a.m.: Personal Safety ■ 11:30 a.m.: Run, Hide, Fight!

An “RTA Safety Prize Pack” will be offered in exchange for participan­ts who visit with each booth and have their passport stamped by at least five partners/vendors at the event. Those participat­ing in one of the personal safety classes will also be eligible for a prize pack.
