Special Projects Grant
The Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District (MCACD) announced up to $150,000 in funding for the 2020 Montgomery County Special Projects Grants program.
According to Matt Dunn, MCACD Executive Director, funding for the grants is made possible through funding from Montgomery County. “The Montgomery County Commissioners committed to supporting local arts and culture, because it benefits the broader community and economy,” Dunn said. “We are grateful for their support and thrilled to announce this latest round of grant funding for local small to mid-sized organizations.”
Small to mid-sized arts and cultural organizations, other nonprofits, schools, colleges and universities, municipalities and government agencies located in Montgomery County can apply for up to $10,000 to support arts and cultural projects taking place between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.
Eligible organizations do not have to have an arts or cultural focus, but the project must. Funding categories include education, visual arts, performing arts and cultural & multi-genre.
This competitive grant program is administered by Culture Works, the Dayton region’s arts fund and arts service agency. To apply for a Special Projects Grant, organizations must:
1. Attend a free grant info session. Culture Works will host two sessions in the second floor Community Room at the Dayton Metro Library Main Branch: Monday, Feb. 10, 3:30 to 5 p.m. or Tuesday, Feb. 18, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Please RSVP to kmaner@cultureworks.org.
2. Submit an online Intent to Apply form indicating the proposed activities, the amount requested, and the organization’s nonprofit status. The form will be available at www.cultureworks.org and must be submitted online by Feb. 29. Culture Works and the MCACD will review all
Intent to Apply forms for eligibility. Approved organizations will be invited to complete the full grant application.
3. If eligible, organizations must complete the online grant application by April 30.
The competitive process will include a review and scoring by a panel of judges. Awards will be announced in June.
The year 2020 marks 30 years of grant programs by MCACD, a special purpose unit of government created in 1990 by the Montgomery County Board of County Commissioners. Since then, more than $25 million has been awarded to major arts and cultural institutions, community organizations, small and emerging arts organizations, and individual artists.
