Works on display

-

The City of Springboro Performing Arts Center (PAC) Art Gallery, 115 Wright Station Way, features the works of Dr. Hyacinth Paul, on display through Feb. 29.

The month-long exhibit may be viewed 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. In addition, the PAC will be open during the Springboro Community Theatre weekend performances: 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14, 28 and 29.

A retired scientist and professor, Paul recently started her career as an artist. Her works are both abstract and realistic using oil, acrylics and mixed media. In the past year, her work has won several awards. She recently was awarded an artist opportunity grant from the Montgomery

County Arts and Cultural District to study Plein Aire painting in Provence and Barcelona. She showcases her work at Front Street Gallery and online.

As part of the exhibit, Paul is collecting baseline information for further study on whether color induces synesthesia and involuntarily evokes feelings of joy. Surveys will be available at the gallery for completion.

The City will host a reception 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, in the gallery to introduce the collection to the community. During that time, Dr. Paul will present a talk about her experiences in creating her art and how art affects general health and well-being.

Exhibits change monthly. For more information or to submit an application for exhibit, call 937-748-5774.
