CareSource, Dragons to salute veterans

- By Sarah Cavender Staff Writer

For the second year in a row, CareSource has agreed to host a Veteran Salute during select Dayton Dragons games this season.

A selected veteran will be given VIP treatment for the night with pregame activities, recognition during the game, a luxury suite seat, a special gift and more.

From now until June 30, veterans in the Miami Valley can be submitted to the CareSource’s Veteran Salute online at www.daytondrag- ons.com/veteransalute. Fives will be selected to be honored at one of the home games at Day Air Ballpark from April to August.

“At CareSource, we lead with heart. We see our ser- vice members, past and pres- ent, as the heartbeat of our nation and we are proud to partner with the Dayton Dragons to recognize our local veterans. This program is a way to bring their amazing stories of service to audi- ences across the region and thank all veterans for their valuable contributions,” said Rachel Goodspeed, director of veteran relations and outreach.

CareSource, one of the largest downtown employers, said in a release the veteran salute is an extension of its commitment to improving the lives of veterans and their families through programs and partnerships to support their health and well-being.

“The Dragons are excited to once again partner with CareSource to honor local veterans,” said Robert Murphy, Dragons president and general manager. “We look forward to continuing to recognize these individuals who have served our country and sharing their stories with our fans at Day Air Ball- park in 2020.”

Last year, the CareSource Veteran Salute honored two U.S. marines, two members of the U.S. Army, and one veteran from the U.S. air force.

Any living veteran can be nominated.
