CPAM presents ‘Godspell’
Children’s Performing Arts of Miamisburg presents its 10th anniversary production of Stephen Schwartz and John Michael Tebelak’s biblical-based musical “Godspell” March 20-22 at the Miami Valley Church, 40 S. Fifth St., Miamisburg.
The cast features Max Allison as Jesus, Madeline Sherck as John/Judas, Ashley Wright as Robin, Ella Sherck as Gilmer, Ava Newkirk as Jeffery, Lily Nevers as Sonia, Cynthia Maynard as Joanne, Jordan Head as Peggy, Noah Engel as Lamar, and Jackson Couts as Herb. Production team includes stage director Courtney Collinsworth, choreographer Rebekah Oliver, vocal director Laura Von Holle, and artistic director Patti King.
Songs include “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Day by Day,” “All Good Gifts,” “All for the Best,” “Light of the World,” and “Beautiful City.”
Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online at cpamburg.com or at the door.
Noted Egyptologist to speak at Victoria
Dr. Kara Cooney, professor of Egyptology, will discuss “When Women Ruled the World” Sunday, March 22 at 3 p.m. and Monday, March 23 at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Theatre courtesy of the Victoria Theatre Association’s National Geographic Live! Series. Cooney’s lecture will focus on ancient legends such as Cleopatra, Neferusobek and Nefertiti, women who “were considered exceptions to the rule, political pawns in a patriarchal society.
