Clean Sweep sets record
Centerville Public Works crews collected more than 442 tons of waste during Clean Sweep, a Citywide bulk pick-up service offered once a year at no cost for Centerville residents.
This exceeds the previous record set in 2019 when crews collected 438 tons.
In anticipation of increased participation, the city spread neighborhood pick-ups across two weeks, giving crews ample time to carry the loads to the Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Station. Breakdown by pick-up day:
■ Monday, Aug. 3: 97.34 tons collected
■ Tuesday, Aug. 11: 123.41 tons collected
■ Wednesday, Aug. 5: 100.61 tons collected
■ Thursday, Aug. 13: 120.98 tons collected
“We know how much the community values this additional no-fee service, and it is one we are proud to offer. We appreciate our residents’ patience as we made adjustments to protect the safety of our customers and our employees,” Centerville City Manager Wayne Davis said.
The City also collected and recycled more than 200 grills.
Centerville recently completed city-wide automation of its recycling program: https://www. centervilleohio.gov/Home/ Components/News/News/1317/15. CONTRIBUTED
