Person of interest arrested after the fatal shooting of 18-year-oldDaytonwoman
A person of interest was arrestedWednesday in connection to the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Dayton woman.
Dayton police began their investigation into Nascia Goodwin’s death when they were called to Gard Avenue near Germantown Street at around 2:30 a.m. Police receiveda report from a caller who said that the shooter cameoutofnowhere and began shooting, records say. The caller said that she saw someone get shot.

Hall saidGoodwinwas found dead in a vacant lot.
“Homicides detectives responded and, after a very exhaustive investigation, led us toa person of interestwho has been arrested,” he said.
The suspect was romantically involved with Goodwin, Hall said. The arrested person not been formally charged with a crime and was not identified by police.
The incident is the second deadly shooting locally this week.
Two women were killed in a shooting at Harshman Road and Tidewater Drive in Riverside early Saturday morning. Taprice Goodwin, 27, died at the scene, police said. Ariana Middlebrooke, also 27, was taken to the hospital, where she died from injuries.
Hall said that the shooting of Nascia Goodwin and the shooting ofTapriceGoodwin and Ariana Middlebrook are not connected.
“A lot of crimes don’t respect jurisdictional boundaries,” he said. “The shootings on Gard and Hillcrest, there is no indication that those are linked to the incident in Riverside on Saturday. The victim from this morning did share a last name with one of Riverside’s victims, but we have not been able to show any conclusive evidence of a family
relationship.”
Hall said that investigations into the two shootings have not intersected.
Another shooting was
reported inDaytononMonday afternoon after awoman reported a man was shot in a car near West Hillcrest Avenue and Mayfair Road.
The victim, described as a man his mid- to late 20s, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
