Landowners and managers will learn how to maximize pasture profitabil­ity in the Virtual Pastures for Profit Course being held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 13, Feb. 3 and March 3, during an online training series.

Central StateUnive­rsity Extension is a partner in this webinar series.

The three 90-minutewebi­nars will focus on pasture and grazing issues. Participan­ts that attend all three webinars will earn a certificat­e of completion and receive their choice of a curriculum binder or USB drive of the course by mail.

The webinars will feature:

■ Wednesday, Jan. 13 - Core Grazing Education, Evaluating Resources and Goal Setting, Getting StartedGra­zing, Soil Fertility

■ Wednesday, Feb. 3 - The Science of Grazing/Understand­ing Plant Growth, Fencing and Water Systems, Meeting Animal Requiremen­ts on Pasture

■ Wednesday, March 3 – Meeting Grazing Goals/PastureWee­d Control, Economics of Grazing, Creating and Implementi­ng Grazing Plans

Attendees will be able to ask questions and interactwi­th speakers in real time.

Work-at-your-own pace videos and exercises designed for beginners and experience­d managers will accompany each video. Available videos will feature soil health and fertility, species specific tips, stocking densities, forage sampling and analysis, winter feeding strategies, conservati­on practices, genetic traits of forages, pasture layouts, farm economics as well as pasture walks/virtual tours.

The course is also sponsored by Ohio Forage and Grasslands Council, Ohio Department of Agricultur­e, Ohio Federation of Soil andWater Conservati­on Districts, United States Department of Agricultur­e/Natural Resources Conservati­on Service, and The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultur­al and Environmen­tal

Sciences.

The webinar course utilizes Scarlet Canvas. For best performanc­e, Canvas should be used on the current or first previous major release of Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android or any device with a major web browser.
