Free online services

Job seekers and veterans have access to two new, free online services through the Dayton Metro Library’s website. JobNow and VetNow offer an array of online tools and resources, as well as live, one-on-one assistance.

JobNow and VetNow are products of Brainfuse, one of the world’s leading online tutoring providers. Users need a DML card or eCard and PIN to access JobNow and VetNow through the Research Tools at DaytonMetroLibrary.org.

JobNow: “While many online career tools offer resume building software or job hunting strategies, the real advantage of JobNow is the ability to access free, one-on-one career coaching,” said Holly Richards, DML’s Collection Development Director. “JobNow coaches can offer constructive feedback on resumes, help with interview practice and more, and guide users through every step of the job search process.” JobNow Live Hours:

■ 2 - 11 p.m. daily for job coaching, interview assistance, and resume help

■ 3 - 9 p.m. Monday – Thursday for live unemployment benefits assistance

JobNow also features self-assessments and career information, resume templates and samples, interview strategies and an Adult Learning Center for skill building and test prep.

Additionally, Dayton Metro Library offers a Free Job Search Kit - a collection of tools and information designed to help job seekers stay organized and conduct an effective job search. The Job Search Kit can be picked up at any branch of the Dayton Metro Library. Resources in the kit are also available online at DaytonMetroLibrary.org/launchpoint/kit.

VetNow: VetNow navigators help veterans and their families understand and apply for the local, state, and federal benefits they are eligible for, from housing and health care to education, mental health, and more. Navigators can also offer tailored guidance in the transition from military to civilian careers. Live, expert coaching can help translate military skills for civilian jobs, restructure resumes, and practice interviewing skills. The Adult Learning Center offers a full suite of academic tools and live online tutoring in a variety of college level subjects. VetNow Live Hours:

■ 2 - 10 p.m. Monday – Friday for Veteran navigators

■ 2 - 11 p.m. daily for job coaching, resume assistance, interview practice, and tutoring

Both VetNow and JobNow are offered by Brainfuse, the same company that provides live tutoring and online learning tools for students in grades K-12. HelpNow features an extensive collection of lessons, video tutorials, and practice tests on all the basic subjects, plus free, one-on-one tutoring, 2 - 11 pm daily. All Brainfuse tutors, coaches and navigators are experienced professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree and complete an intensive onboarding process prior to assisting Brainfuse users.

Access JobNow, VetNow and HelpNow free with a DML card or eCard and PIN through the Research Tools at DaytonMetroLibrary.org. For more information or assistance, call the Library’s Ask Me Line at 937-463-2665.
