Logan Woods, a 6-foot-4 senior guard at Fairfield High School, announced his commitment to the Wright State Raiders on Wednesday.

Woods becomes the first member of Wright State’s 2022 recruiting class.

“I think he’s a really good fit for them,” said

Fairfield coach

D.J. Wyrick, who knows Wright

State well, having spent time t here on t he staffs of Brad

Brownell a nd

Billy Donlon.

“He’s a longer w ing player.

Plays really hard. He’s got a really good motor. He can defend at a really high level. He can guard multiple positions — pretty much one through four. I think what Wright State really liked about him is just how much of a competitor he is. He shoots it well, and that’s very important.”

Woods played his first two seasons at Cincinnati Christian, averaging 12.6 points as a freshman while shooting 43.9% from 3-point range. He averaged 15.3 points per game as a sophomore, improving

his 3-point accuracy to 42.5%. He improved his scoring to 16.1 points per game in his first season at Fairfield and again shot 42.5%.

Woods received a scholarship offer from Wright State on July 13. He also had offers from Kansas City, led by Wright State’s former coach, Billy Donlon, and the Miami RedHawks.

Woods visited Wright State during a team camp this summer and then took an unofficial visit.

Asked why he picked Wright State, Woods said, “I have a great relationship with their coaches. I love their program. The campus wasn’t too basic, but it wasn’t too crazy. It just felt like home.”

Woods will join a program that has recorded winning seasons in each of coach Scott Nagy’s five seasons. The Raiders have won or shared the Horizon League regular-season championship three years in a row.

Woods has played for winning teams, too. Fairfield won the Greater Miami Conference championship last season with a 13-1 league mark and finished 14-5 overall. Cincinnati Christian had a combined record of 40-13 in his first two seasons.

“He’s a winner,” Wyrick said. “He’s been a part of a lot of winning teams. His AAU team (Midwest Basketball Club) is one of the best in the country. He’s experienced a lot of winning, and hopefully he’ll continue to do that.”
