City wants to expand I-675 interchange
Beavercreek seeking $500K to make Grange Hall a full interchange.
BEAVERCREEK — The city is seeking $500,000 in new funding toward its goal of expanding the Interstate 675 interchange with Grange Hall Road near Wright-Patterson
Air Force Base.
The estimated $18.6 million project would open the interchange to future development and help eliminate some traffic problems around the base, Wright State University, the Mall at Fairfield Commons and Soin Medical Center, allowing vehicles to enter I-675 easier.
The current interchange only has an exit ramp from the I-675 southbound side to Grange Hall, and the only entrance ramp from Grange Hall goes into I-675 northbound traffic. The project would add two more ramps, so traffic could exit and enter on both sides.
Beavercreek applied for $500,000 in planning funds via the Priority Development & Advocacy Committee process, which helps the Dayton Development Coalition establish regional priorities when it seeks funding for local projects.
The city said in its PDAC application that changing the intersection from a partial to full interchange would help drive development on about 35 acres of nearby vacant land.
“The purpose of the I-675/ Grange Hall Interchange project is to improve travel efficiency and safety as well as better access to the two current major regional business/employee centers of WPAFB, Wright State University, and Soin Medical Center on Pentagon Blvd in the project area,” the PDAC application read.
In its application, the city said a Conceptual Alternative Study and Interchange Modification Study, along with supplemental research and documents, are being performed.
