Established pastures, a turn-of-the-century barn and an updated house, complete with finished lower level, are part of a five-acre property in Johnson Twp.

Listed for $333,000 by Galbreath Realtors, the homestead at 9563 Ward Road has about 1,380 square feet of living space plus a finished basement. The 5-acre property has a 73-by-33-foot barn with a dirt floor, stalls, loft and workshop.

The house has a covered front porch and a picket-fenced backyard that includes a fire pit, gardens, fruit trees and play area. Toward the back of the property are established fenced pastures. The leach field, septic tank and soil-pipe to the house were updated in 2016.

The brick ranch house has undergone renovations, including the central air conditioning and propane forced-air furnace installed in 2018. A standing-seam metal roof was installed in 2018. Vinyl tilt-in, energy-efficient windows were installed in 2012. The main-level bathroom was updated in 2017.

The lower level has been finished into a recreation room, a possible fourth bedroom with egress window and a full bathroom. Interior doors have been replaced, and the interior has been painted. Flooring, which includes neutral carpeting and wood-grain vinyl, has been replaced.

Access to the property is by a gravel drive that offers extra parking and access to the barn, the two-car, attached garage and the pasture. Across the front of the house is a covered, wood deck that opens directly into the open main area of the house.

The open space inside includes the living room, dining area and kitchen. A white, brick fireplace with stone hearth and triple stone mantels has a wood-burning stove and can be enjoyed from the entire main living space. A picture window looks out over the front deck. Ceiling paddle fans hang above the living and dining areas as wood-grain vinyl flooring fills the two areas.

Tucked into one corner is the kitchen, separated from the other areas by a long peninsula counter. Hanging cabinetry is above the counter and continues into the corner and around appliance nooks. Painted cabinetry complements the solid-surface countertops, and a double sink is below a window. The kitchen has a range and dishwasher. Access to the two-car garage is between the kitchen and the living room, and a door opens off the dining area to the back yard.

A hallway off the main area leads to three bedrooms and an updated full bathroom. All three bedrooms have ceiling paddle fans and large bi-fold closets. The bathroom has a fiberglass tub/shower, a single-sink vanity with matching mirror and light fixtures.

A solid-oak staircase leads from the main level to the finished basement. The open stairwell ends directly within the recreation room, which has a storage nook under the staircase, recessed lighting and neutral carpeting.

A hallway from the recreation room ends at a possible fourth bedroom. The room has two large closets, a daylight egress window and private entrance to a full bathroom. The bath has a step-in shower with ceramic-tile surround and glass doors, a single-sink vanity with solid-surface countertop, matching mirror and light fixtures and ceramic-tile flooring.

An unfinished room has the home’s mechanical systems, including the furnace, hot water tank and water softener. The laundry room is on the main level, just off the dining room, near the back door.
