There’s plenty of holiday cheer in Centerville

-

I hope you are among the hundreds of families who joined us for the Hometown Holiday Walk and Christmas Tree Lighting at Benham’s Grove just prior to Thanksgiving.

We flipped the switch with the help of many, including the Centerville Jazz Band. The students and chaperones left that evening to head to the Big Apple for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We are so proud to have seen our city’s name broadcast nationally and represented by The Centerville Jazz Band in their first NYC appearance since 1982.

During the month of December, you will see many homes and businesses decorated with bright and cheerful lights for the holidays. If you see a home or business that you believe deserves special recognition, nominate your favorite in a message to our social media accounts or information@ centervilleohio.gov. This will help our City Beautiful Commission find the very best and have them recognized at our council meeting.

To add more to your Centerville holiday spirit, residences and businesses are eligible to participate in the Centerville Ohio Community Page Famous Holiday Light Challenge, which will establish an interactive map featuring the winners for you and your family to visit and enjoy the best displays.

And, if holiday music puts you in the Christmas spirit,

you will want to attend The Christmas Spectacular performed by The Centerville Community Band at Carillon Historical Park on Tuesday,

Dec. 14, at 7 p.m.

We can look back and see that 2021 has been an exciting year for Centerville: the revitalization of Uptown, master planning for Benham’s Grove, the renovation of the Yankee Trace Clubhouse, the continued successful development of Cornerstone and Cornerstone Park, Stubbs Park improvements and the continued excellence of the Centerville Police Department. A city-wide commitment to deliver exceptional service takes us out of 2021 and continues into 2022.

This year we once again will joyfully celebrate this season with friends and family. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve a great city with my fellow City Council members, an outstanding city staff, strong relationships with our partner organizations, the many exciting things happening in Centerville, and of course, the warm, cheerful and supportive members of our community. I wish you all a Happy Hanukkah and a Merry Christmas.
