New HR manager
City Manager Dan Wendt has appointed Melissa “Missy” Pruszynski to the position of human resource manager. Pruszynski, who has more than 30 years of experience with the city of Vandalia, assumed the post last week.
Pruszynski is a Vandalia-Butler graduate who began working part time for the City of Vandalia in 1987. She is a member of the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association.
In 1991, she was hired as an assignment commissioner/deputy clerk for the Vandalia Municipal Court. In 2002, she assumed the position of office manager for the Department of Parks and Recreation. Since 2012, she has served as executive assistant / deputy clerk of council.
This year, Pruszynski’s top priorities will include directing the city’s online performance evaluation system, managing the merit pay plan, analyzing staffing needs, improving recruitment — especially for part-time and seasonal posts — studying part-time wage structures, and updating personnel policies.
