State honors primary school principal

- By Superintendent Gene Lolli

Fairborn Primary School Principal Vicki Hudepohl has been named principal of the year and Fairborn Primary School has been designated a Hall of Fame school.

Both awards are given by the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators.

The principal of the year is selected based on achievements above and beyond those expected in the usual school program.

The Hall of Fame School Award recognizes schools that engage faculty, students and the community to provide a quality educational experience. To be considered, Fairborn Primary submitted an extensive application that documented its educational program in many areas. The Hall of Fame schools are selected by a committee of OAESA members and educators.

Hall of Fame winners will be recognized this summer at a conference in Columbus.

The award includes a $1,000 prize to be used at the principal’s discretion. I am extremely proud of Principal Hudepohl and her entire school team. They are an incredible example of leadership and commitment to the school program and our students and families. With the Hall of Fame award, Fairborn Primary School joined Fairborn Intermediate School, which was recognized in 2021.

Fairborn High School students in the PLTW Biomedical Sciences program had an insightful experience at the Ohio HOSA State Leadership Conference and Competition at the Columbus Convention Center. Jessica Cleaves, Emma Epstein and Natalie Oktavec all qualified for state competition from last month’s competition. We are proud of this program and the educational opportunities this provides for our students.

Fairborn Primary School, home for students in grades PreK-2, is open and is an incredible learning space for our elementary students. The construction of Fairborn Intermediate School and Fairborn High

School continues.

The projected opening for Fairborn Intermediate School (grades 3-5) is this August. The projected opening for the new Fairborn High School is August 2024.

The construction of schools in the district highlights the commitment of the Fairborn community to support a future focus on education. With input from the community and a focus on district values, our students will have a state-of –the-art learning facility to pursue their educational goals.

Teachers and students will have learning spaces and the technology infrastructure to work together so students can reach their full potential.

Photographs and construction updates are posted on the Fairborn City School District website www.fairborn.k12.oh.us and you can also follow the Skyhawks on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

As new facilities near final construction, the district will share dates for Open House events/tours and also final walk-throughs of buildings that will be demolished.
