Library media specialist has 28 years in education
Beth Young, Brookville Elementary School’s PK-3 Library-Media Specialist
Young has worked in that capacity for 14 years and has inspired the love of reading in countless children. Brookville Schools thanks her for her service and wishes her a wonderful retirement.
How long have you been in education?

A. About 28 years.
Q. What’s your favorite thing about the Brookville community?
A. Though I have lived and worked in many regions of the country, the Brookville community will always be special to me. The school district feels like the heart of the community, creating a sense of belonging for anyone willing to get involved.
The volunteers, parents, and teachers I have worked with show much needed support for the welfare of Brookville youth; including fun activities and programs during and after school, making sure everyone has enough to eat, and offering generous unpaid service to the children of this community.
What’s some advice you would like to share with your elementary school students?

A. Dear children, know that you are loveable and with that incredible wisdom, share your love with others.
Q. What are you going to miss most about working at Brookville Schools?
A. The 14 years working with the Brookville community will remain one of my greatest gifts ever received. Each day is a learning experience at Brookville Elementary.
You see, though I am the educator in the library, I am also a student, open to the teachings of hundreds and hundreds of children and a dedicated staff. They taught me well. I will miss those teaching experiences and carry them in my heart.
Q. What are your retirement plans?
A. I plan to move closer to family, grow gardens of healthy food and volunteer where needed.

A. I am forever grateful for the trust granted to me by the staff, administration, parents and children of Brookville. This powerful act of trust encouraged me to be a creative, supportive library teacher. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with so many amazing, hard-working, dedicated people of all ages.
