Juneteenth event
The City of Kettering’s Board of Community Relations and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department invite the public to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday at a special lunch event. Juneteenth in Kettering: A Celebration of Shared Freedom takes place Monday, June 20, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Polen Farm, 5099 Bigger Road.
Guest speaker Faheem Curtis-Khidr, Sinclair history professor and equity consultant, will talk about the history and significance of this newly designated federal and city holiday. Musical entertainment will be provided, and Kettering City School students will read their winning essays from the 2022 Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest.
Tickets are $5 and include a boxed lunch and beverage. Tickets must be purchased in advance by June 13. Free parking is available. Visit www.ketteringoh.org/juneteenth for program details and ticket purchase.
