Library cuts ribbon
The Piqua Public Library will hold a public ribbon cutting and reopening of the Nancy Spillane Children’s Department at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The library board approved a redecorating project in the department, and new interactive areas and a castle wall hanging were added.
Spillane worked at the Flesh Public Library beginning in September 1976 and was promoted to children’s coordinator in spring 1996. She and her staff were credited with many programs and with transforming the Flesh basement and later the basement at the new Piqua Public Library into a place for children to explore. Spillane retired in September.
